Old TB or Active TB:<\/b>\u00a0UAE ministerial decree No 28 of 2010 and Federal Law No 7 of 2008 indicate that all newcomers found to have active or old pulmonary TB in a chest X-ray are denied a fitness certificate since they are considered ‘unfit’ for residency.<\/p>\n

Hepatitis B:<\/b>\u00a0The category of workers, which include nannies, housemaids, nursery and KG supervisors, beauticians and barbers, health club workers, and food handlers, will have to undergo tests for Hepatitis B and also for syphilis. Treatment will be given for syphilis and the person will not be deported.<\/p>\n

Vaccination:\u00a0<\/b>Those tested positive for Hepatitis B will have to take three doses of vaccinations and show proof that they have taken them. Workers have to show the vaccination certificate at the time of renewal of their visa. The first dose of vaccination will cost\u00a0Dh50<\/b>\u00a0and the two others are free of charge.<\/p>\n

Pregnancy Test:<\/b>\u00a0Women workers, specially maids, nannies and drivers, will be asked to undergo a pregnancy test which costs\u00a0Dh50<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Old TB scar<\/b>
\nFor the purpose of residence visa, all matters related to the medical fitness tests in the UAE fall under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Health and Prevention (the ‘Health Ministry’). Since you were cured of tuberculosis several years ago, you can apply for your residence visa and thereafter travel to the UAE. It would be prudent to travel to the UAE with all your medical records duly notarised and legalised from home country, UAE Embassy in\u00a0home country\u00a0followed by attestation from Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Co-operation in the UAE. The same set of documents may be filed with the Health Ministry if you fail in the medical fitness test due to TB scars from the past.<\/p>\n

Lifting ban after pneumonia scars mistaken for TB<\/b>
