Riyadh: Medical insurance has been made mandatory to extend family visitor visas in Saudi Arabia.
Valid medical insurance is also mandatory while applying for extension of family visit visa through Ministry of Home Affairs’ Absheer portal. Necessary settings have been prepared in the portal.However, categories such as those coming on Hajj and Umrah visas, those with diplomatic visas, those visiting diplomatic offices, and official guests are exempted from the medical insurance requirement.
A visa renewal application can be made when the validity of the visit visa is seven days or less. Health insurance should be renewed before this. Visitor visas are renewable for a maximum of 180 days.
Saudi Arabia grants tourism visa for foreign travellers
Saudi Arabia’s cabinet has approved electronic visas for foreign visitors to attend sporting events and concerts tourism visa for foreign travellers. Visa application will only take a few minutes to complete online and there will be no need to go to an embassy or consulate. Once the application is approved, it will be sent to the applicant by email.Previously, Saudi Arabia had no visa designed specifically for tourism purposes and visas could only be granted to particular groups on a limited basis.
Embassies and consulates will be able to issue the visas within 24 hours of receiving a request.
All visitors to Saudi Arabia are required to have a valid passport with at least six months validity, in addition to the appropriate visa and a return ticket, with all necessary documents.
